Beatrep — rep counter & interval timer

This Privacy Policy explains how the Beatrep app and this website handle your data. In short: Beatrep works on your device, requires no account, and neither the app nor this website tracks you or collects personal data for advertising. Camera frames are processed on the device and never leave it.

Camera and reference movements

Camera access enables reference recording and repetition counting. Camera frames are analysed on your device to estimate body movement; the frames themselves are not stored by the app and are not transmitted to the developer or to third parties. When you record a reference repetition, Beatrep keeps the trimmed movement data and, on that device, a short video clip so you can review it. This data stays in the app's storage.

Training records stay with you

Exercises, sessions and workouts (exercise names, dates, sets, repetitions, optional weight and heart-rate samples) are stored in the app's storage on your device. They are not transmitted to the developer; there is no Beatrep server. You can remove workouts from the history at any time. Removing the app removes its local data, subject to any backups you keep through Apple's services.

If iCloud sync is available and you are signed in to iCloud, training records (not video clips) can sync between your devices through your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms and privacy policy; the developer has no access to them.

Optional permissions

Bluetooth access connects a compatible heart-rate sensor; readings are shown during a session and stored with the workout on your device. If you permit Apple Health access, Beatrep can read body-composition and heart-rate information and save your workouts to Apple Health. Calendar access lets Beatrep place your training sessions in Apple Calendar. You control each of these permissions in your device settings, and none of them is required for rep counting. Records already saved to Apple Health or Calendar are managed in those services.

Subscription and purchase processing

Your first exercise is free; additional exercises require the Beatrep Pro subscription. Purchase and billing are handled by Apple through your Apple Account; payment-card details are not available to Beatrep.

Subscription access is validated by RevenueCat, Inc. (USA), a subscription management service. To check whether Beatrep Pro is active, the app sends RevenueCat a randomly generated app user ID, technical device and app information (such as the operating system version) and the App Store transaction. This identifier is created by RevenueCat and is not linked to your name, your Apple Account or any other identity. No camera frames, reference movements, exercise names, workout history or heart-rate data are ever sent. The legal basis is the performance of the purchase contract and our legitimate interest in verifying purchases reliably (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Data is transferred to the USA on the basis of the EU standard contractual clauses. See RevenueCat's privacy policy at revenuecat.com/privacy.

When a subscription expires, your first exercise remains usable. Other exercises and references stay saved but locked until Beatrep Pro is active again. Expiry does not delete your training history.

No tracking, no analytics, no advertising

The app contains no analytics tools, no tracking technologies, no advertising and no advertising identifiers. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.

App downloads

When you download or update the app, the Apple App Store processes data under its own privacy policy. The developer receives only aggregated, anonymized statistics (e.g. download counts) and cannot identify individual people from them.

Website hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. When you visit it, the hosting provider automatically processes technical connection data (such as your IP address) in server log files, to the extent technically necessary for the secure delivery of the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Contacting the developer

If you send feedback or a support request by email, your email address and the content of your message are processed solely to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). Include only the information needed to answer your request; do not send health records or camera recordings unless they are necessary and you choose to share them.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. To exercise these rights, contact hello@wissmueller.net.

Children

Beatrep is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
