This Privacy Policy explains how the Mokuso app and this website handle your data. In short: Mokuso works locally on your device, requires no account, and neither the app nor this website tracks you or collects personal data for advertising.

Your diary data stays with you

Mokuso is “local-first”. Your handwritten entries and the text transcripts generated from them are stored only as open files in a folder you choose yourself on first launch — on your iPad or in your iCloud Drive. This data is not transmitted to the developer; no account and no sign-in are needed to use the app. If you choose an iCloud Drive folder, the files sync between your devices through your personal iCloud account under Apple's terms and privacy policy; the developer has no access to them.

Text recognition and AI run on device

Converting your handwriting into text (OCR) and answering your questions about the diary happen entirely on your device (including with Apple Intelligence). No contents of your diary are transmitted to the developer or to third parties.

Location

If you allow it, the app determines the name of your current city when you make the first entry of a day, in order to place it in the day page's header. The location is processed only on the device and never transmitted to the developer. You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings; the header then shows only the date.

Subscription and purchase processing

After a free trial, Mokuso can be used further via subscription. Purchase and billing are handled by Apple through your App Store account. To manage subscription status and to restore earlier purchases, the app uses the RevenueCat service, which processes anonymous, device-related purchase information (no plaintext name, no diary contents). No tracking, no analytics, no advertising

The app contains no analytics tools, no tracking technologies, and no advertising. This website uses no cookies and no analytics.

App downloads

When you download or update the app, the Apple App Store processes data under its own privacy policy. The developer receives only aggregated, anonymized statistics (e.g. download counts) and cannot identify individual people from them.

Website hosting

This website is hosted by Vercel Inc. When you visit it, the hosting provider automatically processes technical connection data (such as your IP address) in server log files, to the extent technically necessary for the secure delivery of the website. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in the secure operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Contacting the developer

If you send feedback or a support request by email, your email address and the content of your message are processed solely to handle your request (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR). The app's feedback function may pre-fill the version, build number, and platform to make support easier; you can review and edit the message before sending it.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and the right to object to processing. Children

Mokuso is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.
